This week's farm news:

Welcome to the fall season, friends! There's so much to harvest in the gardens right now, especially since we are still harvesting from some of the summer crops, that we hope your appetites are big!

The big project of the week, and it took most of the week to complete, was harvesting the sweet potatoes. And oh, my! There were lots. We estimate about three thousand pounds were lifted from the garden soil, hauled out of the field, down to the hill to our homestead, and tucked away under blankets into the warmth of our greenhouse for curing. They look fabulous, too! This is our family's staple winter food so having them all harvested and stored and safely protected from the coming cold weather feels just right.

Next on the list is getting our garlic crop planted and sowing the last round of cover crops on any open ground, and that will pretty much wrap up this busy and productive growing season!
